George R.R. Martin and ‘The Winds of Winter’: The case for a co-author



I doubt there’s an author or journalist in the world who doesn’t feel George R.R. Martin‘s deadline-related pain

The author of the Song of Ice and Fire book series, the raw material behind HBO’s global hit Game of Thrones, went public with that pain at the weekend in a lengthy LiveJournal post. (Yes, the happily anachronistic Martin still uses LiveJournal, which is at least a step up from his word processor of choice: WordStar on MS-DOS.)

Describing his mood as “depressed,” Martin confessed that the sixth book in the series, The Winds of Winter, was still incomplete after half a decade of attempting to bring it to heel.
